Floppy Drive
-
Click on START and choose Run
-
Enter "A:\ amcyl2000.exe" in the pop-up window that appears.
( Note: This assumes that the floppy drive on your computer is
designated as drive "A:". Substitute the letter for your computer's
3-1/2" floppy drive if it is different from "A:" )
-
Click on OK to begin the AmeriCAD® Installation Program. · After
accepting the License Agreement, you will be prompted to accept
"C:\AmeriCAD" as the default directory. This is recommended, however,
you may choose to click on the Browse button to install AmeriCAD®
on a different directory that already exists on your system, or
create a new directory for the installation.
-
When you have completed indicating the Destination Folder (directory),
click on Next to proceed with the Installation.
-
A pop-up window will appear requesting you to indicate where
you would like the AmeriCAD® Program icon to appear. Follow the
directions on the screen and click on Next to proceed with the
installation.
-
The Setup program proceeds to install AmeriCAD®. Click on Finish
to complete the installation. You are now ready to start AutoCAD®
and use the AmeriCAD® software as indicated below.
B.) From a Folder (directory) on your Hard Drive
-
AmeriCAD® can be installed from your hard drive if AmeriCAD's
"amcyl2000.exe" file has already been copied from the installation
disk or from American Cylinder's Web Page on the Internet to your
hard drive.
-
To begin the installation, click on the START Button and choose
Run.

-
Follow the last four steps as described in section "A" above.
II.) USING THE SOFTWARE - (AutoCAD® 2000)
-
To use the AmeriCAD® software, first start AutoCAD® 2000 as
you normally would.
-
From the Menu toolbar choose TOOLS ® LOAD APPLICATION ... to
get the "Load/Unload Applications" window to appear.
-
In the drop down box field titled "Files of Type" in the lower
left hand side of the window, select " ObjectARX Files(*.arx)
". Use the standard navigation tools in the upper portion of the
window to indicate the Folder (directory) in which you chose to
install AmeriCAD® during setup. The default install directory
is "C:\Americad".
-
When you have correctly identified the AmeriCad® installation
directory in the "Look In" field in the upper portion of the window,
highlight "Americad.arx" in the large center window and click
Load. If "Americad.arx" does not appear for selection in the window,
then you did not pick the correct installation directory in the
previous step.
-
After clicking the Load button you return to the "Files to Load"
section of the "Load/Unload Applications" window. Click the Close
button to return to the AutoCAD® "Command:" prompt.
-
After loading AmeriCAD® as described above, you can launch it
at any time during your AutoCAD® session by typing "Americad"
at the "Command:" prompt.

-
You can Have the AmeriCAD® software load automatically each
time you start AutoCAD®. To do this, add the following line to
the ACAD.RX file in your default AutoCAD® directory: C:/Americad/AMERICAD.ARX
NOTE: The above example assumes that you chose to install AmeriCad®
into the default "C:\Americad" directory. If you installed it
elsewhere, you need to supply the full path to the "americad.exe"
file. Be sure to include the parentheses and quotation marks and
use forward slashes instead of the customary backslashes in the
path designation. If you do not currently have an ACAD.RX file,
create the one line file listed above with Wordpad or another
text editor and save it with the name "acad.rx" in your AutoCAD®
default directory.
